As a member of the human race, you were born a slave to sin. It is far easier to do something wrong, because it is an effort to do something right. Christ set you free from this bondage by removing the guilt of sin, which immediately released you from the slavery of sin.
After that, it became a choice when you did something wrong. Romans 6 shows you have been set free from sin: 6 Knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. 8 And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness. 22 But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life.
